MY LITTLE PHONE FRIEND

Yesterday I got a unusual phone PHONE call.
“Hello,is this the doctor who writes about dogs?” a small boy,s voice
I got curious.
“Yes”.
“Which is dog that can be kept by people having only 5cents of land?”.his
tone was in a hurry. I didn,t answer that question.
“Son What is your name? From where are you calling ?”. I asked.
“Kannan .  from Palghat.”
“Kannan In which standard are you studying?”
“6th standard”.
“Is there anybody  home?”
“Now nobody . Amma went to the temple . Father to his office.”( so that was a secret call)
“In 5 cents………?”  Kannan began to repeat the question.
” You can keep Dashhund”.
” My friend told me dash is bad dog “.
“Why”.
“Dash  when it is 2  - - 3 years   will develop   skin  diseases .My friend told me.”
I laughed.”Any dog, if not well cared for ,may contract skin diseases.”
“What is your father doing?”. I changed the subject.
“Cattle feed & chicken feed agency”.
( that means he has some veterinary  connections.I thought.)
“Then your father will have good knowledge about dogs”
“My father knows nothing about dogs.” There was sorrow, anger &  contempt in his words.
I tried hard to control my laughter.
“Which is the cheapest dog?”
“Desi”The nondescript one.”
“I don,t want desi ”
“Why ? They are good watch dogs. They guard the house very well.”
“I don,t want desi any way ”
“Which is cheapest dog  other than desi?”. (Kannen wants to buy a  pup with his pocket money).
“Dashhaund is cheap . May get for 1000 _ 2000 rupees. Can you manage 1000 rupees”
“Ofcourse Ican”
“Will I get a Pomaranian for Rs 1000″.
“Pomaranian is  a dog with lot of  hair. You have to  groom,  brush & massage it daily.
Willyou get time for all this”.
“o! Yes. There is more than enough time.”
“Bull mastiff and bull dog …… Are they  same?”.
“They are big dogs .They need lot of  space for exercise.5 cents will not be enough for
such big dogs”.
“I don’t want to keep .I just want to know . My friend told me they are same.”
no. They are different breeds.”
“I  read somewhere that Alsation & German shepherd are same”( Genuinely interested in dogs !! )
“Yes.They are same .Some people think  German  shepherd is superior .Hence they won’t
admit that it is Alsation.”  Kannan laughed.
“I am stopping. I will call you later”
He told in a low  urgent voice.
“Has amma come?.”
“no.” “coming”. suddenly he put the phone down.
